"A video rubric is an interactive video in which a teacher has recorded themselves thoroughly explaining an assignment’s instructions and marking guidelines to their students. The interactive component comes when students are prompted with multiple choice, true-false, or short answer questions throughout the video. This pedagogical tool is designed to support students in drafting and editing their assessments and to mitigate the negative impacts of the time gap between the teacher delivering the instructions and the student completing the assessment. This increases equity, accessibility, and motivation of the modern student. After successful implementation in Special Care Counselling courses, video rubrics are being expanded to Biology, Chemistry, and English courses at Vanier College thanks to an ECQ grant. Presenters will share and demonstrate their experiences in designing video rubrics for various assessments.
