Abstract:
"Each year, teachers from the Collège militaire
royal de Saint-Jean (CMR Saint-Jean) organize
educational activities in the community to
build bridges, deconstruct prejudices toward
the military and connect their students, also
known as officer cadets, with members of the
larger community they will one day serve. In
the fall of 2022, 35 Francophone officer cadets from the CMR Saint-Jean participated
in the project Lire au suivant, which consisted
in reading stories about inclusion and diversity in their second language—English—to
students at St. John’s Elementary School in
Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. In this article, we
present the successes, challenges, and surprises the project brought for both students
and staff." -- AQPC
